Dear members of the board and members of ESL, I am pleased to inform you of a completely positive balance relating to the activities of our society over the year 2024. The financial situation has been entirely positive and an important contribution will be used for the awarding of prizes for the most deserving scientific works, presented at ESL congresses, trying to encourage the contributions of young lymphologists.
The 47th ESL Congress was organized by Pinar Bormann last June and was a great success, with a very large number of participations and scientific contributions on topics that embraced all scientific fields in the lymphological field and also with transversal contributions with other disciplines from oncology to psychology, from vulnology to sports, with also many hands-on courses. And for this I would like to thank Pinar again and on behalf of everyone for her great effort for the success of the congress.
Next year we will have an ESL session as part of the 30th ISL congress, while in 2026 the ESL congress will be organized by Isabelle Forner Cordero in Valencia. I also want to thank Marina Cestari and the webmaster Domenico Perrone for the beautiful ESL website, constantly updated and very useful for the publication of the various scientific initiatives and which is available to all ESL members.
This year the social means of communication was also used thanks in particular to Gianni Moneta and other members of the ESL whom I thank very much, this means of communication becomes increasingly important for the dissemination of the ESL activity, especially among the youngest.
ESL has participated in numerous initiatives of its associated lymphological scientific societies, such as the Greek, Belgian, ITALF and many others, during their national congresses, and also in a Round Table on āBest management in primary and secondary lymphedemaā during the 31st IUA World Congress in Porto (Portugal) last June. Many new members have shown their interest in ESL and have signed up during this year 2024.
An affectionate memory for our unforgettable and beloved Pioneers and Mentors Oldrich Eliska, Waldemar Olszewski, Iwona Swedborg to whom we continue to refer in our scientific research and also in our daily clinical activity.
Finally, I want to wish all ESL members a 2025 full of every good, health, serenity and peace.
Francesco Boccardo
